V posledních letech musela být diferenciální diagnóza zhoršení funkce transplantované ledviny rozšířena o další nosologickou jednotku - o nefropatii vyvolanou polyomavirem typu BK.

Komentář

BKV nefropatie byla poprvé popsána v sedmdesátých letech minulého století. Polyomaviry typu 1 (BK) a 2 (JC) jsou malé viry (45 nm), které jsou dobře adaptované na lidského hostitele.
